One form of writing I enjoy a lot is writing personal stories. Writing stories from your life make you observe life more actutely and pay attention to what is happening around you. “Paying attention to is our endless and proper work,” wrote Mary Oliver.
But we write with an ulterior motive. We think we can make a difference. We tell our stories with the hope that it will help someone else. Written words have made so much difference in our own lives that we think that our writing can do the same for someone else. Sara Manguso, a writer and poet once said, “The purpose of a serious writer is to keep people from dispair. If people read your work and choose life, then you are doing your job.”
That is the reason I write at least.
